2007 Faugheen report

Here we go again another race has passed, This season will be over before we know! It was another week Flat out as usual in the workshop getting the bikes prepared,so Simon didnt see much of his home again! but ,he loves doing all the cleaning after these wet races and dirty paddocks!!! Friday, and all was set for the road again, same crew as last week; Simon, Raymond, Stephen and Geoff, the racing just would not be possible with out all these lads, so Thanks again We  decided bring our superstock bike again this week ,just for a back up ,as we have been experiencing some problems with the superbike , so with all loaded we had not a lot room left for our so 250 ,so I got flying Ryan to bring it down for me ,and just on that note ,I Must congratulate  him on his performance this weekend, he sure seems to be back on top of his game again.

Saturday and practice went fairly good we ended up 2nd on the superbike, 3rd on the 250 and 7th on the 600 so I seemed to be on the pace for this weekend… Saturday evening and the bbq was lit and John McKeown doing chef for us ! Thankfully there was a Pub close to the circuit, so for once this year when the head count was done on Sunday morning every one was present and correct apart from Stephen! he assured me that he was the best drinker in the world , but as for recovery- it will probably take him until the middle of the week to get over that one! looks like Michelle will have to tighten the ropes on him a little.

Sunday morning and the sun was shining which made a change as the weather has not been to kind to us lately, there were ten races in store and between Mark and Myself we were out in seven of them! So the boys were looking after his 125 this weekend as well.

Again Mark produced the goods for the HM team with another record breaking ride on the little 250, well done again.. I have to be honest and say I was expecting more from my results on Sunday, but you have to take what you get, we finished up with 5th and 6th on the superbike, 6th and 7th on the 600 and a disappointing 8th on the 250, for one reason or other luck has been avoiding me lately, I guess the best thing to do is just keep plugging away at it and hopefully things will change soon.

The only positive I can take from it is that my fastest lap to Ryans were only 1.2 seconds slower in the first big race and 1.5 seconds in the second race! so I aint a million miles away.

To run right up there you need good starts and a bit of luck. This coming weekend will be the Mid Antrim which is my sponsor Hugh Murphy’s home race, so lets hope we can get a good run up there and may be he will make it up and have a look, lets hope it’s a dry weekend and cut out a bit of this cleaning.

Just before I go can I pass my sympathy onto Bobby Edgar’s wife and family, Bobby was the Clerk of the Course at Tandragee, and died suddenly on Monday morning, he will be sadly missed by his friends in the racing world..
