Race Day at Bush.
Its been a pretty long day, hasn’t it?, unfortunately the rains came down here at the Bush, and put a damper on the whole meeting, but having said that, despite the delays, I hope yous enjoyed some good racing.
For me, I am well chuffed, four podium finishes! And managed to quicker than last years lap record in both 250 and superbike classes !
I have to admit I may not be 100% race fit, but as regards my shoulder, as I said last night, it is the best it has been since Easter, so Big Thanks to Fiona Gilliand, she has worked miracles.
With the re shuffling of the race programme, it meant that I done four races in succession!, so to be on the podium in each, and along with going faster than last years speeds, I think we will have a wee beer to night!.
Simon, Raymond and the lads have worked really hard to day, so I think its only fair to take them out for the night, they thoroughly deserve it.
This mornings practice in the 600 saw me go quicker than I did in the bike last night, but after a few calls, I tweaked the suspension on the superbike, and yes, we went in the right direction.
I must say I was overwhelmed by the amount of locals who dropped in to wish me Luck to day, so if any of yous are reading this, Thanks, your support is very much appreciated.
The 250 race was so slippery , I wasn’t at all surprised that it was red flagged, Davy Morgan crashed out, then Barry Davison went down as well, I understand Davy has a poss dislocated shoulder, not nice I can assure you, but lets hope Davy boy is out soon.
Later after the 750 support race was stopped when Club DJ for to night, Colin McWhirter crashed out, along with Trevor Ferguson, we went out for a few laps to see what conditions were like, and to check that the debris (and oil) was well cleared for racing again, Thankfully all was ok, and the club let the classics out first, and re arranged the remainder of the programme, I know this may not have went down well with some spectators, but put yourself in the CoCs job, and you will find, decisions like this aren’t easy made!.
Big Congratulations to young Cummins, as I said last night, he could poss take a couple of wins, but to do the treble, new lap record , all on his debut, Brilliant, well done Connor, and, to Paul Cranston, he didn’t win, but it certainly wasn’t for the sake of trying, well done paul, and Trevor Ferguson!, I am going to check out what he had for brekkie!, he was going great guns on the Triumph .
And Nigel Moore doing the double, 125 and 250 classic, well deserved to the quiet man of racing!
The lads are taking down the awning now, and we hope we can get out of the paddock ok, as it is pretty mucky, but before I go, I must say Baylor hasn’t lost his knack of starts!, I was talking to him before his race, and boy was he nervous!, but when the flag dropped, he came from behind to lead into the first corner! and kept the lead of his group for almost 2 laps!, well done Baylor, But I am gonna have to have a word with Anne, she is going to have to give you a rest, as you seemed to tire after 2 laps!!.
I hope everyone enjoyed to day as much as I did, despite the weather, Its Athea next week, I am looking forward to this meeting, and I believe Martin (Finnegan) will be on the MV Agusta at this meeting, hope to see you there.
