Dream Come True

Well that's it for the 2009 TT Races and what a fortnight it turned out to be! It really was a dream come true for me as to get two top ten placings in the two main TT races, and then to end the week with a win on my Superbike at the Steam Packet races on Saturday , what more could i have asked for?, it really was superb!
The Senior TT was perfect from start to finish. Even though our new engine only pulled five gears (we went the wrong way with the sprockets) I set my best ever time on the mountain circuit at 124.5mph which pleased me. On the first lap at Ginger Hall I was in 14th place then made it up to 12th before some of the top lads starting breaking down, but unfortunately for them that's the TT for you. Simon, Raymond and wee Stephen Greaves carried out
two perfect pit stops, which helped pull me back some time. All credit to
them for a perfect job and to the Bear, who was in the Hailwood Centre keeping an eye on the timing screens and informing my crew with pit-boards around the circuit.
Eighth was a great result and more than I could have asked for, former TT winner Michael Rutter was 7th and only 64 seconds ahead of me at the flag.
Looking back now I wish I had dug a little bit deeper in the race and pulled that 11 sec a lap on him - it would have been nice to have my name above his on a result sheet. After all he wouldn't have been short changed to appear at the TT..!!
After the Senior it was time to pack up and head for Castletown for the Steam Packet races on Saturday. To be honest, at this stage , with almost 3 weeks away from home it was the last thing on my mind!!
However, after getting my first big bike win it made it very worthwhile, it was amazing, but I really had to work for it as Mark Parret pushed me all the way to the flag. The ex TAS bike worked perfect for the whole two weeks we were there and to put her at the top of the tree before coming home really was the icing on the cake.
So basically that's it for TT 2009. Before I sign off I would like to THANK my team whom, without, this would not have been possible; Simon, Raymond, Stephen, Matthew, Keith (the BEAR) and not forgetting Rachel for putting up with us all and preparing food daily. Thanks also to Roberta and John McKeown along with Robert (from CSC racing) for the excellent pit boards, the TAS boys for all their help and last but not least Baylon for looking after my reports and keeping the website up-to-date when we were away.
Thanks should also be paid to my sponsors, without them my racing would not be possible, so to ;Kronos Audio Visual, H2 Engineering, George Davidson, the Joni B Supporters Club, Wayne Acheson, Burrows Engineering ,a BIG THANK YOU!
This weekend is the annual Bush Road Races, this is my home circuit, only about 2 miles from my home. Over the past few nights I have been out helping the organisers at the circuit, taking out fences etc etc. The Bush is a great wee club going, so if you are up our way this weekend ,PLEASE dig deep and BUY A PROGRAMME!, as the club needs all the financial help it can get in this current recession.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend and would love the top step of the podium, but realistically anywhere on the podium will do as Messers Farquhar, Archibald,Cranston and the Dunlop's will be hard to beat ,never mind the rest of the lads that didn't compete at the TT.
Good Luck to everyone at the weekend, and, if you are in around the paddock, Please shout in to the race truck, you will be most welcome.
