Killalane Report
Hi to you all again.. I must start this week by wishing our young superstar Mark Young a speedy recovery, after his off in practice on Saturday ,and may I just say at this stage, it was NOT his fault !, it was mechanical, and there were quite a few people saying that he was pushing too hard! Certainly not, He looks quite safe to me, and others have agreed with me in this instance, And it is easy to say that he was trying too hard, as he had just shattered the class lap record before his big off! But I have said it before and stand by what I say, Mark has the makings of a top rider and I think he has proved this by his performances this year.
Sparky, we wish you well, Get better soon, from ALL at the HM Team and lets hope we can be involved with you in some way next year.
We headed off on Friday afternoon to Killalane, the crew was somewhat lighter than normal this weekend,as Simon, Raymond and Keith (the bear) were in Ibiza ,trying to act the young boys!! From what I hear ,There are plenty of stories to be told !So that left Stephen as the only spanner man!
When we arrived Robert Burrows (Bisto) had a place in the paddock kept for us just beside him, and whats more, he said he was doing ALL the cooking for the weekend ,as it was the last road race of the year!, Fair play to ya Bisto, what a super job you done, Thanks for all that Robert, much appreciated .
Saturday ,and practice went fairly well for myself ,I was 4th on superbike, 3rd on the 600 and 6th on the 250, so that left me starting from the first two rows of the grid in each of my classes and that’s were I wanted to be come race day, so , yes, pretty happy I was.
Saturday afternoon and the team got a surprise visit from the Boss man himself; Hugh Murphy, due to work commitments this year his appearances has been somewhat of a low key ,but it was good to see him back for the craic and from what I hear certainly he enjoyed his Saturday night out with the crew, For me, I was safely tucked away in bed!
Sunday morning and I woke to find our holiday boys were all back and ready for action, What can I say about these lads, they have been with me through thick and thin throughout the year, a good bunch they are!, so lads; THANKS for coming down, They came straight from the airport to the paddock!
First race up was the open, and as I said in my last report it was between William Dunlop and myself for second place in the Irish Senior road race championship.I knew, all I had to do, was to finish behind William to claim second, well , Thankfully that all went according to plan as William was third and myself fourth, But saying that, William was riding very well and I was just able to keep him in sight for the first half of the race, but fair play to him he has adopted himself very well to the big bikes, his lap times certainly back that up.
In the 600 race I finished up in sixth place, I was happy enough with this, as I had completely messed up my start!, so much for qualifying on row one!
In the Grand final I was pushed all the way by Adrian McFarland for 4th, so all said and done, I was happy enough with my performances.
I would just like to say Thanks to Frances and Paula ( Everard) and all the club for a job well done, along with a meeting run like clockwork, Brilliant, AND to Mr Cummings !, what can one say? What a performance! Four wins from Four starts! And to beat Martin Finnegan on his own doorstep, that takes some doing, well done Connor, But I would have admit, and I am sure many would agree with me, I would have loved to see Martin getting at least one win.
As I was a non starter in the 250 race ,I got a chance to watch for a change, and what a performance from William and Michael (Dunlop), for those of you that remember the races between their Dad and Uncle Joey ,well history seems to be repeating itself, as we are starting to see the same thing all over again, well done lads, it was sure a good race to watch.
Well that’s it nearly all wrapped up for this year I may be doing another race across the water next month or so, If that does happen you will be kept posted ,and hopefully ill be able to fill you in on my plans for next season in the not to distant future.
To EVERYONE , who Helped me this year, in anyway, no matter how big or small, you were considered part of the Team, Without your help, 2007 would not have been possible, I Just want to say THANK YOU to each and everyone of you, ( Too many to mention!) I hope you enjoyed the season as much as I have
.
Thanks Again
