Manx GP 2007 Practise update
Hello everyone,It seems so long since I last done a report but thanks to Baylon for keeping you all up to date. We are at the end of practice week here in the IOM, and I am justafter finishing the last of the practice sessions, however, due to some essions not getting their full accrediated times, I understand that there will be an extra session on Monday afternoon.
Things has gone fairly well apart from the odd oil leak, but Robert McCrum assures me that, that all part of classic racing!, I suppose you could say, we learn something new every day!
RJ Woosley and Adrain Elwood arrived over here on Friday night to fit the new engine to the 350 so I got a lap on it to night, RJ advised me to take it easy, as he wanted a few miles on it before giving her Dixie!, this morning, we were at Jurby, where we got a few miles on it .I think, I will try a different gearing on Monday practice lap.
Adrain is staying until after the race, so having him on board will leave life a little eaiser for me, as I am not used to working around the classic bikes.
Looking back over the practice week, I am pretty satisfied, as we managed get about 8 laps in total !so I suppose one could say, that I am getting accustomed to classic bikes now.
Robert “ Bisto”Burrows is also on board this weekend along with Stephen Greaves
Despite having to do a bit of grovelling to get here!, hes a good chap, always helping me out back home.
I think I am running in the top 15 on the 500, so if I can keep that up for the race ill be well happy, as a finish round here on one of these thing will be a bonus for me
so heres hoping, come Monday we will get a safe and enjoyable run.
Looking the way the leader board is going, the top step of the podium could be with another Tyrone man, so lets hope the Paton holds together for him, Ryan had certainly proved, that he can ride any type of motorcycle,
I notice that quite a few of the Irish lads are going quite good during the practices, Mick Weldon, Shane Connor are looking good for podiums, and hopefully the top step for them, Andy Brady, Stephen McKnight and Noel Patterson could well be on the podium for the newcomers, wouldn’t it be nice, if they could take the top three? I reckon the Irish lads will be taking home a wealth of Replicas this year!, anyway, there are plenty of other lads from back home, whom I haven’t mentioned, so Can I just Wish them all a safe and successful run during race week.
Well that the racing side of things out of the way for now , we are all heading down town for something to eat, and something tells me, that Colours could well get a visit!, sure we have no racing to morrow(Sunday), so I am sure the lads wont say No!
There is a good excuse for a wee drink to night!, Baylon reminded me earlier to day, that it was this day 6 years ago, when I rode in my first race!, I rode Baylons 600 yamaha at Mondello, where does the time go?
Despite the fact that, there may not be any racing to morrow, doesn’t mean, we will be lazing about!, far from it, a lot of work has to be done, and Wallace (Seawright) is also coming over to have a look over his bike, .
If you are on the Island, call round to the “Tin Hut”, which we are working from, on the tarmac paddock, next to the fencing on the Nobles side of the Paddock.
