Hi Everyone, You must all be thinking that I have fallen of the face of the earth or have I just given up on all the website stuff? Well the answer to that question is, I am still here and I am finally getting myself organised to putting a few words together. The reason for not updating my website is, Thankfully,we have been incredibly busy at Burrows Engineering which helps to keep the wheels turning both on and off the track, but more importantly last Thursday night my wife Rachel gave birth to our first child, Jack. This has been a most exciting and life changing experience for both of us, it really does put things into perspective and makes you realise in life what is important.
From a racing point of view everything is more or less in place. We are running the same Superbike as last year with a few extra bits and pieces added to bring it up to the latest spec. The Supersport bike I have had for the last couple of seasons has been sold and the I have purchased an ex IFS 600 yamaha as ridden by Jeremy McWilliams last year. This bike should be as good as anything providing I am able to keep the wires tight….!! We are also in the process of building a ER6 Kawasaki for the Supertwin class, hopefully this will leave us more competitive on top speed than before. All being well I will be back out on Gerry O'Sullivan's 350 Honda Classic at most of the national races.
As most of you may have read elsewhere, I have agreed to ride a Superstock bike at the TT for Tim Martin of Martrain Racing. As you all know I now run my own set up with the aid of personal sponsors ,so it was nice to get the call from a leading and respected Irish team. Perhaps I'm not on the scrap heap just yet….!!! Tim has been interested in doing the TT for a couple of years now so he feels this is the perfect way for him to see what its all about. Tim is supplying me with a 2010 GSXR 1000 Suzuki so hopefully I can give him a reasonable result.
Last years sponsors are all still onboard, which is a massive boost. I will provide a further update on them in the next few weeks, as I am still hopeful of securing another sponsor within the next few days.
Looking ahead here is the race meetings I am planning on competing in this year, My intentions are to have a run out on Easter Friday and Saturday at Bishopscourt to blow of the cobwebs, then it will be the roads from then on in. All being well, I will be doing most of the national road races both North and South ,but will most likely give a few of the long distance ones a miss this year as I now have Rachel and Jack to consider. I said in the past that I may give the NW a miss but with the cancellation of the Tandragee meeting, I will need some track time before the TT, so I hope to back at the North West Coast for another year. From there we will head off to the TT were I'll be riding in the pre TT classic for Gerry OSullivan, plus the Steam Packet races at the Billown circuit at the end of TT fortnight.
I intend making a return to the Southern again in July plus my intentions are to be back again on the island in August for the Manx, where I will be riding again for CSC racing, (Steve and Chrissie Caffyn. )The UGP is also on my list also after my lean spell there last year when I took sick after practice on Thursday.
So that’s it for now, but I will bring you up to speed in a couple of weeks on my sponsors which form the most crucial part of any team…
