Southern 100 update 1

On  tuesday night we headed down to the paddock around 3pm to get the bike's cleaned up and ready for practice, the roads were so wet during Monday night practice, the bike's looked like moto crossers after a day in a muddy field! ,we got two practice sessions ,one for the 600 and one for the superbike, things have been going pretty well with the big bike this week as I ended up 8th again .

The first race of the week was for the big bike,Now, I had qualified 8th on Monday night, but for some reason, unknown to me, they put me on the 5th row of the grid for the race ! how they worked that out ill never know, but that's how it is and I just had to make the most of it, thankfully we got a good start and I was up to 9th on the first lap behind Paul Hunt, Ian lougher and the big Lusk man Finnegan, things were going good for me and I was holding onto them boys pretty comfortably , At this stage I made it up to 7th, and we had pulled away on the boys behind, but as we came into one of the harpins (Ballabeg , I think) it was damp, and Ian had a rather big highside, as the rain had started to come down, as we carried on round the rest of the lap, as I came through Church bends I decided that id call it a day as we were out on full slicks (Others were in the same situation, but I was just making my own mind up, for my own sake), as I cruised in on that lap Cranston and Mark Parrot came past which dropped me down till 9th . Then they brought out the red flag as there was a heavy crash at stadium which is a flat out 4th gear corner, lucky the lad is not seriously injured, plus I was glad that Ian was ok as well, He is one of the nicest fella's in the paddock, fame never went to his head either, Oh by the way it was his birthday yesterday, id hate to ask his age!!! ,But you cant take it away from him, stylish and fast, that's Ian!

So that was the racing over for another night, it was Chinese time and a few beers with  the crew,Simon, John, Roberta and Darren and Kerry. just before I go there will be another rider in the HM colours this weekend at Walderstown in the 250/400 support class.!!!!
