TT Thursday Update

With three days racing, the JB Race team have been pretty busy, however from the performance point of view, John isn’t exactly happy with the way things are going.

“ To be honest, we are not having the best of TTs, we are having problems with the bikes, and I know I can do better, but my weakest points are the twisty sections.        Raymond Pictured above Working man needs a drink!!

I have mentioned the superbike race already, whilst in the superstock, I managed to get a finish, although the bike still feels to soft!, I am not altogether happy with my performance , as my fastest lap was just over 118mph!, with an ave of over 116, and a Bronze replica, I suppose I cant complain too much.

I took the 600 out for a practice lap , and all seemed ok, so I was looking forward to this race.

I was happy enough with the way I was going, until I got a massive slide at Kirkmichael, I continued, but a few more slides made me back off, I continued round, but something wasn’t right, I honestly thought there was oil on the rear tyre, but when I got to the pits, we found that my rear tyre was flat!, it turned out that the inner seal in the valve cap had worked its way into the valve and was loosing pressure, so I was a bit downbeat after that.

Took the superbike out for 2 laps, managed to get ahead of Ryan (Farquhar) from the start , until he outbraked me at quarter bridge, nice feeling to have lead away!!.Done two laps, and my best was 2 secs short of 120mph!, not too bad, but at the same time, not good enough.I was still having problems with the bike, so we took it out to Jurby on Thursday for a run. I done 30 runs up and down the track, we returned to the pits, where,I had a decision to take.

Will I ride the 600? will I ride the stocker?, or pesevere with the superbike?

As we speak, no decision has been taken, but it looks as I will take the superbike out. I have now thought over things, and I know I am under performing by my own standards, so I am just looking at the fact of getting more mileage under my belt, and take what comes.

The lads have been working very hard , so after three days racing, I suppose they could be excused to having a night out at their headquarters namely Colours,

As usual on a night like this, more alcohol than normal was consumed, and when we got back to the sleeping quarters, for some reason or other, certain men were found to be sleeping in the wrong beds!, and found themselves lying on the floor the next morning!, the beauty of alcohol!.

Back to Jurby and I almost got the chance to ride a Honda Britain RC45!, Which would have been a dream come true.

As Philip McCallen hadn’t turned up, the Honda  guys asked me to run in the brakes of the RC45day, brilliant, its not often you get the chance to do something like this!, But guess what?, Philip arrived, just as I was about to get on the bike!!!, ach well, at least I got asked!.

All being well, we will have more updates to morrow, lets hope the senior TT is the fitting Finale to Centenary week, I wish everyone a safe  run.
